Forbach (voor-BAHK, Frans: [fɔʁbak], Duits: [ˈfɔʁbax]; Lorraine Frankisch: Fuerboch) is een gemeente in het departement Moezel in de noordoostelijke Franse regio Grand Est. Het ligt aan de Duitse grens, ongeveer 15 minuten van het centrum van Saarbrücken, Duitsland, waarmee het een grensoverschrijdende agglomeratie vormt, en maakt deel uit van de Eurodistrict Saar-Moezel. Volgens de nationale telling van 2011 had Forbach 21.954 inwoners, waardoor het, met inbegrip van het grotere stedelijke gebied, de grootste stad in het oostelijke Moezelgebied is. Vóór het Verdrag van Schengen was Forbach een belangrijke grensovergang waar douaneprocedures werden uitgevoerd, zowel voor wegvervoer als voor vervoer per spoor en reizen. Hier wisselen treinen ook van spoorzijde van rechtsrijdend (Duitsland) naar linksrijdend (Frankrijk).

Koblenz (Duits: [ˈkoːblɛnts]; Frans: Coblence), voor 1926 gespeld als Coblenz, is een Duitse stad aan beide oevers van de Rijn, waar de Moezel samenkomt. Koblenz werd rond 8 voor Christus door Drusus opgericht als een Romeinse militaire post. De naam is afkomstig van het Latijnse (ad) cōnfluentēs, wat betekent "(aan de) samenvloeiing" van de twee rivieren. De feitelijke samenvloeiing staat tegenwoordig bekend als de "Duitse hoek", een symbool van de eenwording van Duitsland met een ruiterstandbeeld van keizer Willem I. De stad vierde in 1992 haar 2000ste verjaardag.
