Het heeft een permanente populatie van 10,899 (2018). Davos ligt aan de rivier de Landwasser, in de Rhätische Alpen, tussen de Plessur- en Albula-bergketen op 1.560 m (5.120 ft) boven zeeniveau. Het voormalige vakantieoord in de Alpen bestaat uit twee delen: Davos Dorf (letterlijk: "Davos-dorp") in het noordoosten richting Klosters en verder door de Prättigau naar Landquart, en Davos Platz (letterlijk: "plaats") in het zuidwesten, dat zich opent het dal van de rivier Landwasser in en leidt uiteindelijk naar Filisur. Tijdens het zomerseizoen leidt de Flüela-pas naar het zuidoosten in het Unterengadin.
