Hannover of Hannover (; Duits: Hannover [haˈnoːfɐ]; Nederduits: Hannober) is de hoofdstad en de grootste stad van de Duitse deelstaat Nedersaksen. Met 535.061 (2017) inwoners is het de dertiende stad van Duitsland en de derde stad van Noord-Duitsland na Hamburg en Bremen. Voordat het in 1946 de hoofdstad van Nedersaksen werd, was Hannover de hoofdstad van het Vorstendom Calenberg (1636–1692), het keurvorstendom Hannover (1692–1814), het Koninkrijk Hannover (1814–1866), de provincie Hannover van het Koninkrijk Pruisen (1868-1918), de provincie Hannover van de Vrijstaat Pruisen (1918-1946) en de staat Hannover (1946).

Leipzig is de meest dichtbevolkte stad in de Duitse deelstaat Saksen.
