Magenta is een kleur die op verschillende manieren wordt gedefinieerd als paarsachtig rood, roodachtig paars of mauve-karmozijn. Op kleurenwielen van de RGB (additief) en CMY (subtractieve) kleurmodellen bevindt deze zich halverwege tussen rood en blauw. Het is een van de vier kleuren inkt die worden gebruikt bij het afdrukken in kleur door een inkjetprinter, samen met geel, zwart en cyaan om alle andere kleuren te maken.
