Hazebrouck (Franse uitspraak: [az.bʁuk], Nederlands: Hazebroek, uitgesproken als [ɦɑzə.bruk], West-Vlaams: Oazebroeke) is een gemeente in het departement Nord in Noord-Frankrijk. Hazebrouck in Vlaanderen was een kleine marktstad voordat het in de jaren 1860 een belangrijk spoorwegknooppunt werd. West-Vlaams was tot 1880 de gebruikelijke populaire taal die in de stad werd gebruikt. In die tijd werd Frans op school onderwezen in opdracht van de Franse regering in een poging de bevolking van Nord-Pas-de-Calais te "verfransen" en hun Vlaamse roots. De ontwikkeling van de spoorwegen verbond Hazebrouck met Lille met Calais en Duinkerken.
