Lierde is een gemeente in de Vlaamse Ardennen, het heuvelachtige zuidelijke deel van de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen in de Denderstreek. De gemeente bestaat uit de steden Deftinge, Hemelveerdegem, Sint-Maria-Lierde en Sint-Martens-Lierde. Op 1 januari 2006 had Lierde een totale bevolking van 6.399. De totale oppervlakte bedraagt 26,13 km² wat een bevolkingsdichtheid van 245 inwoners per km² oplevert. Lierde grenst aan Brakel, Zottegem, Herzele en Geraardsbergen.
