Caulonia is een gemeente in de provincie Reggio Calabria in de Italiaanse regio Calabrië, gelegen op ongeveer 60 kilometer (37 mijl) ten zuidwesten van Catanzaro en ongeveer 120 kilometer (75 mijl) ten noordoosten van Reggio Calabria in de Stilaro-vallei. Oorspronkelijk stond het bekend als Castelvetere, maar in 1862 besloten de burgers de naam van de stad te veranderen in die van de oude stad Caulonia. Ze geloofden dat deze stad op hun grondgebied was gelegen, maar uiteindelijk werd bewezen dat het oude Caulonia te vinden was in de buurt van het moderne Monasterace, 16 kilometer (10 mijl) naar het noordoosten.
