Ravenna (rə-VEN-ə, Italiaans: [raˈvenna], ook lokaal [raˈvɛnna]; Romagnol: Ravèna) is de hoofdstad van de provincie Ravenna, in de regio Emilia-Romagna in Noord-Italië. Het was de hoofdstad van het West-Romeinse rijk van 402 tot dat rijk in 476 instortte. Het diende toen als de hoofdstad van het Ostrogotische koninkrijk totdat het in 540 door het Byzantijnse rijk werd heroverd. Daarna vormde de stad het centrum van het Byzantijnse Exarchaat van Ravenna tot de invasie van de Longobarden in 751, waarna het de zetel werd van het Koninkrijk van de Longobarden.
