Altamura (, Italiaans: [ˌaltaˈmuːra]; Barese: Ialtamùre) is een stad en gemeente in Apulië, in Zuid-Italië. Het is gelegen op een van de heuvels van het Murge-plateau in de metropool Bari, 45 kilometer (28 mijl) ten zuidwesten van Bari, dicht bij de grens met Basilicata. Met ingang van 2017 heeft de bevolking 70.595 inwoners. De stad staat bekend om zijn bijzondere kwaliteit brood genaamd Pane di Altamura, dat wordt verkocht in tal van andere Italiaanse steden. De 130.000 jaar oude verkalkte Altamura-man werd in 1993 ontdekt in de nabijgelegen kalkstenen grot genaamd grotta di Lamalunga.
