Eschede is een gemeente in het district Celle, in Nedersaksen, Duitsland. Eschede ligt ongeveer 15 km ten noordoosten van Celle, aan de rand van het natuurpark Südheide, een beschermd gebied met grote bossen en heidevelden. Tegenwoordig maken ongeveer 20 kleine dorpen deel uit van de "Gemeinde Eschede". In 1975 verwoestte de grootste bosbrand in de geschiedenis van Duitsland enorme stukken bos in het gebied. De plaats is ook bekend om de treinramp in Eschede in 1998, waarbij een ICE-trein crashte, waarbij 101 werd gedood en het het ergste Duitse treinongeluk sinds de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd.

Schwerin is de hoofdstad en de op één na grootste stad van de noordoostelijke Duitse deelstaat Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Het heeft ongeveer 100.000 inwoners. Schwerin werd voor het eerst genoemd in 1018 als Wendenburg en kreeg in 1160 stadsrechten van Hendrik de Leeuw, het is daarmee de oudste stad van Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Het staat wereldwijd bekend om zijn romantische Schwerin-paleis, gelegen op een eiland in het meer van Schwerin. Het paleis was tot 1918 een van de belangrijkste residenties van de hertogen en groothertogen van Mecklenburg en is sinds 1990 de officiële zetel van het staatsparlement.
