Leysin is een gemeente in het kanton Vaud in het Zwitserse Aigle. Het wordt voor het eerst genoemd rond 1231–32 als Leissins, in 1352 als Leisins. Leysin, gelegen in de Vaud-Alpen, is een zonnig vakantieoord aan de oostkant van het Meer van Genève, in de buurt van Montreux, Lausanne en Genève. In eerdere jaren stond Leysin bekend om zijn tbc-sanatoria; Tegenwoordig is het het meest bekend om het spectaculaire uitzicht op de Alpen over het Rhônedal richting de Dents du Midi en het hele jaar door bergsporten en recreatieve voorzieningen. Het dorp Leysin en het gehucht Veyges maken deel uit van de inventaris van de Zwitserse erfgoedlocaties.

Thun is een stad en een gemeente in het administratieve district Thun in het kanton Bern in Zwitserland met ongeveer 43.783 inwoners (ongeveer 90.000 in de agglomeratie), per 31 december 2013. Het is gelegen waar de Aare stroomt uit de Thunersee (Thunersee), 30 kilometer (19 mijl) ten zuiden van Bern. Naast toerisme, machine- en precisie-instrumentengineering zijn het grootste garnizoen van het land, de voedingsindustrie, bewapening en uitgeverij van economisch belang voor Thun.
