Deinze (Nederlandse uitspraak: [ˈdɛi̯nzə]) is een stad en een gemeente in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. Het omvat de stad Deinze en de steden Astene, Bachte-Maria-Leerne, Gottem, Grammene, Meigem, Petegem-aan-de-Leie, Sint-Martens-Leerne, Vinkt, Wontergem, Zeveren, Nevele, Hansbeke, Landegem , Merendree, Poesele en Vosselare. Op 1 januari 2019 had Deinze een bevolking van 43.500. De totale oppervlakte van de gemeente is 127,43 km2 (49 vierkante mijl), wat een bevolkingsdichtheid van 342 inwoners per km² oplevert. Op 1 januari 2019 is de gemeente Nevele opgegaan in Deinze.

Zottegem (Nederlandse uitspraak: [ˈzɔtəɣɛm], Sotteghem en Sottegem in oudere Engelse en Franse taalbronnen) is een gemeente in België en meer in het bijzonder in Vlaanderen, in de provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. De gemeente bestaat uit de gemeente Zottegem en de dorpen Elene, Erwetegem, Godveerdegem, Grotenberge, Leeuwergem, Oombergen, Sint-Goriks-Oudenhove, Sint-Maria-Oudenhove, Strijpen en Velzeke-Ruddershove. Op 1 januari 2018 telde Zottegem een totale bevolking van 26.373. De totale oppervlakte is 56,66 km² wat een bevolkingsdichtheid van 470 inwoners per km² oplevert. Zottegem maakt deel uit van het heuvelachtige geografische gebied van de Vlaamse Ardennen (Vlaamse Ardennen); de heuvels en geplaveide straten (Paddestraat) zijn vaste plaatsen in de lenteklassiekers van Vlaanderen.
