Braunschweig (niemiecka wymowa: [ˈbʁaʊnʃvaɪk]; dolnosaksoński: Brunszwik [ˈbrɔˑnsviːk]), zwany także po angielsku Brunszwik (), to miasto w Dolnej Saksonii w Niemczech, na północ od gór Harzu, w najdalszym żeglownym punkcie rzeki Oker, które łączy go z Morzem Północnym przez rzeki Aller i Wezer. W 2016 r. Liczba mieszkańców wynosiła 250 704. Potężne i wpływowe centrum handlu w średniowiecznych Niemczech, Braunschweig był członkiem Związku Hanzeatyckiego od XIII do XVII wieku. Było stolicą trzech kolejnych państw: Księstwa Brunszwik-Wolfenbüttel (1269–1432, 1754–1807 i 1813–1814), Księstwa Brunszwik (1814–1918) i Wolnego Państwa Brunszwik (1918– 1946).
