Castrop, od 1 kwietnia 1926 r., Jest częścią Castrop-Rauxel, Nadrenia Północna-Westfalia, Niemcy. Nazwa pochodzi od trop / torp dla wioski (niemiecki Dorf) i chasto / kast dla szopy. Najstarsza wzmianka pochodzi z 834 roku jako Villa Castrop. Podczas wojen saskich Karol Wielki korzystał ze starych rzymskich ulic. Dla zaopatrzenia zbudowano Reichshöfe (pojedyncza Reichshof). W pobliżu tych Reichshöfe osady często rosły. Reichszof Castrop został przekazany von Bordeliusowi w 1611 roku.
