Top-Rated Day Trips To Take From Berlin are a must despite Berlin itself being a fantastic place to visit! There are enough great attractions in Germany capital to keep you occupied for days. However, day trips from Berlin to the neighboring towns and countryside can offer an excellent respite from the crowds. From the lovely palaces and pristine parks of Potsdam to the natural splendor of the Rivers Havel and Spree, Berlin’s surroundings offer plenty of attractions and things to do. The city rail and public transport networks make it easy to get out and about, and organized tours make it easy to travel further if desired.

Day Trip From Berlin: Potsdam

No escape from Berlin gets more attention than Potsdam. So we could not have a list of day trips from Berlin without it. The reason is simple. Within 40 minutes you will trade in the metropolis for a day of strolling among the gardens and palaces of this former Prussian royal city.

Start your day trip to Potsdam wandering towards the Old Dutch Quarter. The red bricked Dutch style architecture of Potsdam Dutch Quarter is unique, not only in Germany but in all of Europe. Even in the Netherlands, seeking outbuildings that match Jan Bouman 18th century creations in Potsdam is impossible.

Day Trip From Berlin: Muskau

Most people come to spend time hanging out at the UNESCO World Heritage site, Muskauer Park with its stunning English gardens and the Neo-Renaissance castle surrounded by a small lake. Something special about this park is that its geography extends to both Germany and Poland! So a walk through the park includes a visit to two countries in one shot. We like efficiency! There is not much to do aside from this, so a visit to Bad Muskau is best paired with other nearby attractions like the Devils Bridge.

Day Trip From Berlin: Bremen

Ok, ok! I know this is a bit of a stretch as a day trip. But once you have been there, you will understand why I could not leave it off our day trips from Berlin list! Things to do in Bremen include having dinner in a beer garden on a boat, hanging out in the gorgeous Schnoorviertel, walking the short distance of the 100 meter long Bottcherstrasse, and relaxing with coffee and cake at the base of a windmill. You have gotta see it for yourself!

Final Choice: Dresden

Dresden makes an awesome day trip from Berlin! The city is approximately two hours by train from the German capital. It is located halfway between Berlin and Prague, and it is quite small and easy to navigate, meaning that even with just one day you will be able to see quite a bit.

The Elbe river divides the city; on one side there is the Altstadt (or Old City), and on the other, there is the Neustadt (New City), but guess what, the Altstadt is actually newer!

Dresden was bombed to the ground at the end of WW2 (make sure you read Slaughterhouse Five before you visit, if you are into history) and the Altstadt area was rebuilt exactly as it was before the war, but some of the buildings were only completed after 2000.
